A great month is behind us!
December is one of the most special months of the year – full of warmth, joy and extraordinary events. In our kindergarten this time was not only festive, but also full of interesting activities that taught children new skills, developed their sensitivity and brought lots of smiles.
We started the month with an important lesson on empathy and understanding for others. As part of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, our preschoolers had the opportunity to learn about the diversity that surrounds us. Thanks to workshops led by a psychologist and a special education teacher, the children learned about the difficulties that people with various disabilities face every day. The biggest challenge, and at the same time the greatest fun, was overcoming a specially prepared obstacle course. The preschoolers could experience what life is like for a blind person or someone with movement disorders. These practical activities caused not only a lot of emotions in the children, but also a lot of reflection. At the end, we colored a huge coloring book together, which now decorates our cloakroom, reminding us how important acceptance and support for others are.
Who among us hasn’t waited for Santa’s visit? In our kindergarten, this long-awaited event became true St. Nicholas magic! The children’s joy at seeing St. Nicholas was enormous, and the gifts stirred up a lot of excitement. The day passed with joint fun, dancing and singing. Each child received a gift, and smiles did not leave their faces until the end of the day. It was a moment that will remain in our memories for a long time – full of warmth, joy and a true Christmas atmosphere.
December is also a time for preparations for Christmas. Every day, our preschoolers opened the next windows of the Advent calendar, which contained tasks full of surprises. These small challenges taught cooperation, patience and joy in small things. There was also no shortage of classes from the core curriculum and classes on emotions. We talked about how to recognize and express them, as well as how to deal with different feelings. This is an important step in building the social skills of our preschoolers.
Just before the holidays, the children took part in another activity from the “Play with the senses” series. This time, the main theme was heat and cold. The children watched with curiosity what happens when warm water comes into contact with ice balls with shiny surprises hidden inside. These experiences allowed the children to feel for themselves what a change in temperature is and how fascinating the world of science can be. After this winter adventure, the preschoolers ended the activity on a warm note – delicious ice cream. It was a day full of emotions and discoveries that will certainly remain in the memory for a long time.
This month was exceptional – full of new experiences, important lessons and a wonderful holiday atmosphere. We thank our preschoolers for their commitment, parents for their support and the staff for the heart they put into every activity.
We can’t wait for more adventures in the new year! We encourage you to check out the photos on our Facebook and Instagram and share your impressions there in the comments.
