Characteristics of the program
The English curriculum at KIDS ISLAND kindergarten is carefully designed to provide children with an enjoyable and effective introduction to the English language and develop communication skills in a way that is adapted to the age and development level of all our students.
Main goal:
The main goal of teaching English in kindergarten is to introduce children to the world of English by creating a friendly and encouraging learning atmosphere, developing basic communication skills and building a positive attitude towards learning a foreign language.
Detailed goals:
– Arousing curiosity and interest in the English language and the willingness to use it. It is important that children have a positive experience of learning English, so the aim is to create a friendly, fun and encouraging atmosphere in lessons.
– Sensitizing the student to the English language used in everyday life
– Developing communication skills at the level of words and sentences. Encouraging children to speak English through games, role-plays, short dialogues and other interactive activities.
– Understanding short stories read and told – developing listening comprehension skills.
– Building cultural awareness: Introducing children to the basic elements of English-speaking culture by talking about the customs, traditions, holidays and customs of English-speaking countries.
– Preparing children to read words in English through the global reading metod
Working methods used during classes:
The method we use in groups is a natural method, which is based on the similarity of the process of learning the first language to the process of learning a foreign language. This method assumes that students learn the language through a natural communicative environment, interaction with the teacher and other students, and regular exposure to authentic language materials.
– In the natural method, the priority is to develop communication skills, not just mastering grammar or vocabulary. Students learn the language by putting it into practice in various communication situations.
– The natural method promotes language immersion, i.e. exposing the student to the target language as often as possible. This may include talking to a teacher, watching movies or listening to music in English.
– The natural method minimizes the use of translation into the native language. Instead, the teacher tries to use English in a way that is understandable to students through gestures, pictures, or other ways of explaining.
– Students have access to authentic language materials, such as press articles, films and audio recordings, that are adapted to their level of skills and interests.
– The natural method promotes flexibility in the teaching process, allowing classes to be tailored to the individual needs and learning styles of students.
